The Power of Trust: A Personal Journey
By Susanne Mus
In my early career, I stumbled upon a profound truth that has stayed with me ever since. Trust, an intangible yet powerful element, became the heart of my approach to building relationships. Allow me to share a pivotal moment that made me understand the true essence of trust.
Back then, I faced a challenging software crisis, as did a colleague of mine. While working on separate projects, we both encountered related issues that demanded immediate attention. Determined to fix it, I promised my customer that I would resolve the problem.
Interestingly, while I was immersed in my work, my colleague's customer grew increasingly frustrated and kept calling for updates. My customer, on the other hand, remained silent. After a while, my manager decided to call my customer to inquire about the silence. Their response struck a chord with me: "If Susanne says she's going to fix it, we know she will no matter what."
This experience left a lasting impression on me. I realized that trust is the bedrock of strong relationships - be it with clients, colleagues, or loved ones. It fosters mutual respect and understanding.
Looking back, I cherish the lesson I learned about trust. It's not just a word; it's a personal commitment that deepens connections and enriches lives. By staying true to our promises and acting with integrity, we can build a world where trust flourishes, transforming our relationships in profound ways.
